Happy National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day!

Chocolate Chip Cookie

It’s National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day!! I’ve got a sweet tooth but in particular I have a soft spot for chocolate chip cookies! Any variety of chocolate chip cookie has my stomach saying “yes please”! I thought it only appropriate to share some of my favorite versions.

You can go the traditional route with just the basic chocolate chip cookie with semi- or bittersweet chocolate chips. You can never go wrong with these.

Or you can go for all chocolate and have the double chocolate chip cookies that taste like a mix between chocolate chip cookies and brownies. These never last long in our house!

If you’re a coconut fan, add in some coconut flakes to make coconut chocolate chip cookies. Sweeten things up a bit because basic chocolate chip cookies are not sweet enough of course!

Toss in some dried fruit for a little variety. Really switch things up with these white chocolate cranberry cookies by adding in dried cranberries and using white chocolate in place of semisweet.

Cookie dough complete in about 8 minutes!! It's a little thicker than other dough because of the additional flour but it makes the cookies more cakey!

You can add a touch a of orange zest to really brighten up the flavors, some oatmeal for some hardiness and walnuts because, according to Jor, cookies are always better with nuts in these oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

Cookies ready for oven!

Although it’s technically chocolate chipĀ cookie day, I think it’s completely acceptable to eat your chocolate chip cookie in something other than cookie form. To me, it’s all about the flavor and ode to the chocolate chip cookie taste. Because of that, it’s only appropriate, and completely necessary, that we include chocolate chip bread!

And mini chocolate chip bread loaves!

Well if I wasn’t craving a chocolate chip cookie of some kind before I started this there is no way I can avoid the craving now. But honestly, there is rarely a time when I’m not craving a warm, gooey chocolate chip cookie so that’s not really a new problem for me. Celebrate national cookie day the right way and make or find your favorite version and enjoy every bite of it!! I know I sure will! For now, that’s national chocolate chip cookie day…in the shell of a nut!

PS: Wally’s birthday happens to fall on one of the best national food holidays! Happy 2nd birthday to the best doggie we could have ever hoped for! He brightens up every single day!
