Cookies in a Jar for Team in Training!

Cookies in a Jar 3

I have some exciting news! It involves homemade cookies, Team in Training, and saving lives!

I completed my first event with Team in Training this past March (the Publix Half Marathon) and it was one of the most inspiring and humbling experiences. For those that don’t know the story, I received my first TNT brochure in the mail two days before my Grandpa Al lost his second battle to lymphoma at the ripe age of 97 (just shy of 98!). I saw the word lymphoma, read the TNT mission, saw the date for the next Atlanta half marathon event and there was only one decision for me: I was running a half marathon on March 17, 2013! Together with Jor we raised a little over $2,600 for TNT! This could help pay for two children to travel to outpatient treatment for one year plus 12 anti-nausea pills. Or, it could pay for 8 rounds of radiation treatment co-pays and the co-pay of one lab test! Crossing the finish line at Publix brought a rush of emotion, as you just knew that every step you took and every dollar raised was truly making a difference in someone’s life. It was advancing cancer research, making information and financial resources more accessible, improving the medical treatment options for current and future patients and above all, it was improving and SAVING lives!

This was such an amazing experience and I became so passionate about the TNT mission that I got the TNT “bug”! On November 9, 2013 I will be running the Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Half Marathon with TNT as a mentor. I am excited to help other participants have as an amazing experience as I did with TNT but also, I could not be more proud to continue the fight against blood cancers!

That’s where I need your help. I’m offering to exchange your support towards my fundraising efforts of raising $1,500 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for a jar of fresh, homemade cookies!

Cookies in a JarHere’s how it will work. There are two jar options: A small jar with a 12 cookies for $9 or a larger jar with 24 cookies for $18.

Cookies in a Jar 2There are currently three cookie options: traditional chocolate chip, double chocolate chip (pictured), or oatmeal raisin.

Cookies in a Jar 4For those that live close by, we will set up delivery/drop off arrangements. For those that live far, for the extra cost of shipping you too can support the fight against blood cancer AND enjoy these cookies!! I promise to have all orders out of my oven and at your door as fast as my mixer can get the job done!

Cookies in a Jar 5Have you been enticed yet? If so, you can send your cookie order to: albertah@gmail.com with the number of jars, size of ┬ájars, and your cookie of choice that you’d like in your jars. I will work out payment and delivery/shipping with each person individually.

Cookies in a Jar 6The battle against blood cancers affects approximately 1 million Americans each year and every four minutes someone new is diagnosed. So I’ll keep on training, you keep buying cookies and with one step and one jar at at time we will get that much closer to finding a cure and truly making a difference in someone’s life! On behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, myself and each patient and survivor, we THANK YOU! For now, that’s cookies in a jar for team in training…in the shell of a nut!
